Not all volunteers do the same thing — and that’s exactly how we like it.
At Verde Valley Humane Society (VVHS), we know everyone brings different skills, interests, and ideas to the table. If you look through our volunteer opportunities and don’t see your perfect fit — don’t worry. We love creating volunteer roles just for you.
Whether you’re great at organizing, creating, fixing, writing, planning, teaching, or something we haven’t even thought of yet, we’ll work with you to build a volunteer opportunity that matches your skills and interests while supporting our mission.
Volunteering should be fun, meaningful, and rewarding — and we’re happy to help you find (or create!) the role that feels just right.
All volunteers receive orientation and role-specific training as needed.

- Yard Heroes: Keeping our outdoor spaces safe and welcoming
- Fix-It Friends: Helping keep the shelter running smoothly
- Courtyard Canine Crew: Playtime with purpose
- Dog Walking Crew: Leashes on. Tails wagging. Let’s go.
- Paws for Pages: Sometimes the most powerful gift you can give a shelter dog is a quiet moment and a kind voice.
- Event Day Heroes: The extra hands that make life-saving work possible.
- Unique Volunteer Experiences: From transport support to photography, outreach, and adoption events—there’s something for everyone!

- Complete the Volunteer Application.
- If you are interested in becoming a Foster fill out the Foster Application.
- After we review your application, we’ll reach out to you to set an interview and schedule your introductory visit to the shelter.
