Kellie Sanders Joins VVHS Board

Kellie Sanders is the newest member of the Verde Valley Humane Society Board of Directors. She has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and is a Certified Life Coach. She spent her professional career in education, both as a teacher and administrator. Kellie has served on numerous educational and faith-based boards and councils in Wisconsin and Illinois. She has had numerous (currently two) rescue animals and is “committed to working with the VVHS to advocate for animal rights, promote responsible pet ownership and support a compassionate community where animals are treated with respect and kindness.”

Kennel Sponsorships Help Maintain the Shelter

Becoming a Kennel Sponsor is a great way to help VVHS maintain a viable shelter, while promoting a business and making a lasting tribute to a beloved pet or person. Kennel Sponsorships come in three varieties: Lobby Showcase, Dog Kennel, and Cat Kennel.Each sponsorship has its own price explained on the sponsorship form. The sponsorship plaque is 4” high x6” wide and can contain the name of the person or business sponsor, a personalized message or tribute, and a logo or website URL for business partners. Kids Ad Winner Promotes Fostering

The Verde Independent newspaper recently conducted its 34th Annual “Design an Ad” competition cosponsored by a large number of local advertisers. Each participating advertiser was asked to provide a theme or headline for their sponsored ad. Then the newspaper took that information to primary school classes in the local area.

The Verde Valley Humane Society headline was “Foster Pets, Foster Hope.” Since most 3rd graders are not familiar with fostering, the teacher was given a definition to share with the students. “Fostering is when you give a homeless pet a safe and loving home for a little while until they are adopted into their forever home.”

The winning ad design was created by Emma Watts, a 3 rd grader in Ms. Zienka’s class at Mountain View Prep. Emma is shown here with her parents and her winning ad which is now on display in the lobby of the VVHS shelter.

Meet Our Featured Pet to Adopt, Scrunchie!

This handsome guy is a lover! Scrunchie loves affection as much as he loves to play. He’s a high energy guy looking for lots of exercise and attention. Scrunchie enjoys a good run and a fenced-in yard is on his wish list.  Scrunchie is looking forward to meeting any potential doggie siblings. Our boy weighs around 60 beautiful lbs.
