Our shelter is full!
Like most shelters throughout the country this has been a difficult year. More and more dogs and cats come to us unwanted, abandoned, injured and frightened. Due to personal and financial problems, housing, and moves to assisted living beloved pets end up in our shelter. Please donate to help us find forever homes for all our great dogs and cats and to help us care for them while they wait.
During 2023 more animals than ever came to us needing safe loving homes. Read the story of Maggie and Jezi below. We believe you want us to continue helping dogs like them. Sometimes all these “strays” need is food and shelter, but often they need more. Your donation today will ensure we’re here for other pets in need.
Your generosity allows us to go that extra mile. From specialized surgeries to just extra TLC, your donations help save lives. Please unleash your generosity to help.
Jezi and Maggie Need a Home for the Holidays
Jezi and Maggie, a bonded pair, are two of our senior residents. Abandoned by being let out of a car near our shelter, a neighbor saw them running towards the mountain. These little guys wouldn’t have survived long loose at the base of Mingus. Luckily the neighbor was able to entice them into her car and bring them to us.
Maggie, the little black and tan dog, is 13 years old and weighs 11 pounds. Jezi is 9 years old and weighs just 6 pounds. Both are friendly and adorable. They deserve a new home. Call 928.634.7387 and make an appointment to meet them and some of our other seniors waiting for a home.
Even if you cannot adopt at this time, we believe you want us to continue helping dogs like Jezi and Maggie. Sometimes all they need is food and shelter, but often they need more. Your donation today will ensure we’re here for other pets in need.
Dia de los Muertos Remembering Pets Who Have Passed
Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead celebrates life and death, exchanging mourning for joy. The Verde Valley Humane Society helped honor pets that have passed as part of the Dia de los Muertos celebration at the Phillip England Center for the Performing Arts.
After a ballet folklórico de colores performance, the crowd of 400 moved from the auditorium to the decorated cafeteria for displays, activities for children, and music by mariachi musicians.
The Verde Valley Humane Society had an altar to pets that have passed, gave away children’s books about kindness to animals, and helped children color drawings of pets.
November 28th
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the generosity of people to help their communities. It inspires people to do more and to give more in their communities. Your gift and those of other animal lovers together make a huge difference to us all year long.
This year many important causes are reaching out for your help. We’re asking you, as an animal lover, to consider a gift to the Verde Valley Humane Society and the animals we care for.
Consider helping not just one day but throughout the year with a recurring donation every month during 2024. Unleashing generosity can mean becoming a volunteer or foster for our needy animals. It can mean telling your friends and neighbors about the good work we do and encourage them to adopt, spay neuter, and care for their own animals. It can mean making a year-end gift to ensure our work will go on to benefit the Verde Valley animals that come to us. It can also mean considering a legacy gift. Whatever your choice, unleash your generosity and help us.
Yes, save the date! But we know you’re busy. November 28th is just one day. That’s why we think of Giving Tuesday as an symbol for the entire season as we reflect on our gifts and consider giving to others. Mark your calendar or open your hearts today!
