Mingus Film Students

The Mingus Union High School Film Club is making a film about us!

We can’t wait to see it. They filmed all parts of the shelter and interviewed staff and volunteers. Marie LaFrance, Digital Media/Film, the Senior Sponsor, and students Jeremiah Libby, Brayden Lynn, Christian Molina, Toni Mohar Sena, and Jose Parra Romero were part of the film crew.

We just heard students from the club won the SKILLS USA Region 4 2024 Digital Cinema Production Pr-Qualifier for their short film. “Ain’t Mile” is a comedy drama about a world where people lose their voices for unknown reasons and cannot communicate verbally. Wish them well as they compete in the State Leadership & Skills Conference.

The Verde Valley Humane Society again visited the Cottonwood Public Library’s Family Craft Hour to assist the kids in making treasure boxes. Cute kids learning about pets!

Black Bear Diner hosts Verde Valley Humane Society Fundraiser

The Verde Valley Humane Society asked supporters to visit the Black Bear Diner on February 29 and Black Bear generously donated 20% of meal tabs to Verde Valley Humane. Donations totaled over $1,000 for the day, 7 am to 9 p.m., thanks to friends, families and the great Black Bear staff. We’ll be back!
