Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Front Desk Associate to join our Animal Shelter team. The ideal candidate will be the face of our organization, greeting visitors with a friendly and helpful demeanor, assisting with their inquiries, and providing a welcoming atmosphere for both humans and their animal companions.


  • Greet visitors upon arrival, providing warm and efficient service.
  • Answer and route incoming calls, providing information about our services, adoption processes, and events.
  • Perform clerical duties, including data entry, filing, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Facilitate the adoption process by explaining procedures, answering questions, and processing necessary paperwork.
  • Manage scheduling for shelter staff, volunteers, and animal meet-and-greets.
  • Assist with receiving and processing donations.
  • Provide general information about animals available for adoption.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the reception area.
  • Work collaboratively with shelter staff and volunteers to promote a positive and productive environment.
  • Handle any customer service issues or complaints with empathy and professionalism.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous front desk or customer service experience preferred.
  •  Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  •  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A strong passion for animal welfare and commitment to promoting the humane treatment of animals.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Comfortable working around various animal species.

  • Able to stand, bend, and reach during the shift.
