Verde Valley Humane Society is seeking a versatile and committed individual to serve as our Animal Care & Front Desk Associate. This dual role involves providing daily care for shelter animals while also serving as the initial point of contact for visitors and callers. The ideal candidate will be equally passionate about animal welfare and delivering excellent customer service to our community.
- Provide daily care to animals, including feeding and cleaning kennels.
- Assist with the intake and assessment of new animals.
- Work closely with the behaviorist and other animal care specialists to address the animals’ needs.
- Participate in animal socialization and enrichment activities.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment for all animals.
- Greet visitors warmly and assist with their inquiries and needs.
- Answer and route incoming calls, providing information about services, adoption processes, and events.
- Perform clerical duties, such as data entry and record maintenance.
- Facilitate the adoption process, assist with meet-and-greets, and process necessary paperwork.
- Handle donations and manage scheduling for staff and volunteers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in animal care or a shelter environment is beneficial.
- Customer service or front desk experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of animal behavior and care practices.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle animals gently and confidently.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stress effectively.
- Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working with various animal species and in various capacities around the shelter.
- Able to perform physical tasks, including standing, bending, and reaching.
